Who is Vatalia?

Vatalia creates Living Art, a new category at the intersection of museum-quality art and living botanicals. Our wall-mounted systems transform spaces by bringing together timeless craftsmanship, intelligent technology, and the restorative power of nature. We believe the most beautiful objects are those that grow and change, and that true luxury means creating spaces that feel truly alive.

 

What is a Living Art system?

Living Art is a premium wall-mounted system that integrates a museum-quality Canvas with up to 18 living botanicals. The design prioritizes beauty first, with all technology invisibly integrated into the frame. Each piece evolves daily as the plants flourish, maintained effortlessly by our intelligent Provenance software and The Loom hardware. It's the finishing touch that transforms a room into something extraordinary.


Artist Program Basics

What is Vatalia's Artist Program?

The Vatalia Artist Program is an exclusive opportunity for artists to license their original artwork for reproduction on our premium Canvases. This collaboration allows your artistic vision to be showcased in Living Art systems in homes and spaces across the United States, creating a unique medium where your art becomes the foundation for living, evolving installations.

 

How does the program work?

You provide high-resolution digital files of your original artwork that meet our technical specifications. Once approved, your artwork becomes available as a Canvas option for our Living Art systems. When a customer selects your Canvas, you receive a royalty payment. You retain ownership of your original artwork and earn recurring royalties as your work sells.

 

What makes this different from other licensing opportunities?

Your artwork becomes part of a living, evolving installation that merges art and nature. Your designs aren't reproduced on static products—they become the visual foundation for botanical installations that change daily. This creates a dynamic dimension to your creative expression while gaining exposure to design-conscious collectors and interior designers who value both aesthetic beauty and connection to nature.


Licensing Options and Royalties

What licensing options are available to artists?

We offer two licensing options:

 

Standard Option (Full Exclusivity): Your artwork and any artist-driven reproductions may not be sold or licensed elsewhere during the term. This option pays 25% royalty per Canvas sold.

 

Limited Option (Non-Compete): Your artwork may be sold elsewhere but not for competing living wall products. This option pays 20% royalty per Canvas sold.

 

How much can I earn through the program?

Canvases are priced at $200 as our standard baseline. You'll earn either 25% ($50) or 20% ($40) per Canvas sold, depending on your selected licensing option. As your work gains recognition, you have flexibility to adjust your Canvas pricing, which would proportionally adjust your royalty earnings.

 

Your artwork plays a significant role in the customer's purchasing decision. We encourage artists to submit multiple pieces to provide variety and align with seasonal preferences.

Do I receive royalties on all Vatalia products?

Royalties apply specifically to Canvas sales featuring your artwork. No royalty applies to the Living Art system itself or other Vatalia products. However, if merchandise featuring your artwork is created for sale, we'll negotiate a separate flat fee in good faith prior to production.

 

When and how will I get paid?

Royalty payments are made within 30 days after each calendar quarter. You'll receive a detailed report listing quantities of Canvases sold featuring your artwork along with your payment, sent by check or electronic transfer to your designated account.

 

What if I want to sell additional original artwork through Vatalia?

We're developing The Vatalia Gallery, an online portal where you can sell your original artwork. For these sales, you'll receive 70% and Vatalia receives a 30% commission of the Net Sales Price. We handle the customer transaction while you're responsible for packaging and shipping the artwork directly to the customer. This feature will be available in the future.


Benefits and Exposure

What benefits do artists receive beyond royalties?

As a Canvas artist, you'll receive:

  • Name and website attribution on product, packaging, and digital catalog
  • A featured profile on our website with your artist bio
  • Professional photography when captured during our normal course of business
  • Early access to new Living Art features and products before public release
  • Option to receive product at preferential pricing for self-promotion
  • Two-way links between your website and your Vatalia Artist Bio page

Will my artwork be promoted to potential customers?

Yes, your artwork becomes part of our curated Canvas collection available to all Living Art collectors. We also implement special promotional features including:

  • Rotating "Artist's Choice" spotlight where artists select and promote fellow artists' work
  • Artist showcase events (virtual and in-person) to build community and visibility
  • Featured placement for top-performing artists

Artwork Requirements

What type of artwork are you looking for?

We seek artwork that complements the elegant, nature-inspired aesthetic of Living Art. Your work should resonate with design-conscious homeowners who value beauty and artistic expression. While we welcome diverse styles, artwork that enhances rather than competes with the living elements of the installation tends to perform best.

 

Are there technical specifications for submitted artwork?

Yes, we require high-resolution digital files (300 dpi or higher) of your artwork for Canvas reproduction. Detailed specifications will be provided upon acceptance into the program, but generally, artwork should be:

  • Original and created entirely by you
  • Suitable for reproduction at our Canvas size (36" W x 24" H)
  • Created without the use of generative artificial intelligence tools
  • Provided in the requested file format (PNG, JPG, EPS)

How many artworks can I submit?

There is no strict limit on submissions. We encourage you to submit a cohesive collection that showcases your unique artistic vision and style. Our team will work with you to select pieces that best complement the Living Art experience.

 

How are artworks selected for the program?

Our curation team reviews all submissions based on aesthetic quality, originality, market appeal, and compatibility with Living Art. We look for artwork that enhances the living elements and resonates with our target audience of design-conscious homeowners and interior designers.


Legal and Ownership Questions

Who retains ownership of my artwork?

You retain full ownership of your original artwork. You're granting Vatalia a license to reproduce your artwork on Canvases and for promotional purposes, but you maintain ownership of the intellectual property rights. Your original artwork is never touched.

 

What rights am I granting to Vatalia?

You grant Vatalia a worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, display, and sell your artwork on Canvases according to your selected option (Standard or Limited). You also grant rights to use your artwork in promotional materials, marketing activities, and product configurators. These rights may be sublicensed to Vatalia's affiliates and production vendors as needed.

 

Can I continue to sell prints or reproductions of my artwork elsewhere?

This depends on which licensing option you select:

 

Standard Option (Full Exclusivity): You may not sell or license the specific artwork piece elsewhere during the term of the agreement.

 

Limited Option (Non-Compete): You may sell the artwork elsewhere, but not for competing living wall products. Framed prints and other applications are acceptable.

 

What is the term of the licensing agreement?

The agreement starts on the effective date and continues for an initial term of one year. It automatically renews for successive one-year terms unless either party provides written notice of non-renewal at least sixty days before the end of the current term.

 

What happens if I want to terminate the agreement?

Either party may terminate if the other materially breaches and fails to cure within 30 days after written notice. Upon termination, Vatalia will pay all accrued but unpaid royalties within 60 days and will retain the right to sell existing inventory featuring your artwork for a six-month sell-off period.


Program Participation

How do I apply to join the Artist Program?

To apply for Vatalia's Artist Program, visit our website at [APPLICATION URL] and select Artist Program to complete the application form. Include samples of your work or a link to your portfolio for our review. Our curation team will evaluate your submission and contact you regarding next steps.

 

Is there an exclusivity requirement?

You choose between two licensing options: Standard (full exclusivity with higher royalty rate) or Limited (non-compete option that allows you to sell your artwork elsewhere except on competing living wall products, with lower royalty rate). The choice is yours based on your career goals and marketing strategy.

 

Can I use images of Living Art installations featuring my work in my portfolio?

Yes, you may use branded images of Living Art installations featuring your artwork in your digital and print marketing portfolio materials. This allows you to showcase this unique application of your work to potential clients and collectors.

 

Do I have audit rights for sales reporting?

Yes, you or your designated representative have the right, upon reasonable prior written notice and no more than once per calendar year, to inspect and audit our books and records directly pertinent to royalty calculations. If an audit reveals an underpayment exceeding five percent for the audited period, we'll reimburse you for the reasonable costs of the audit and promptly pay any underpayment.


Support and Community

Is there a community of Vatalia artists?

Yes, we foster a community of participating artists through our artist portal, showcase events, and collaborative features. The "Artist's Choice" spotlight allows artists to select and promote fellow artists' work, building connections within our creative community. Top-performing artists also have opportunities to participate in design consultations for future Living Art products.

 

What marketing support do you provide for artists?

We provide comprehensive marketing support, including:

  • Professional photography of installed Living Art systems featuring your work (when available)
  • Featured profiles on our website and social media channels
  • Inclusion in our product configurator and digital catalog
  • Artist showcase events (virtual and in-person, launching in the future)
  • Cross-promotion with your website and social platforms
  • Opportunity for Gallery Sales that will increase your earnings (future feature)
